we have decided to cut our sabbatical short and return to what's most important right now and that's the ROCKIN' THE SURF FOR AUTISM fundraiser.

here are the latest details.

ROCKIN' THE SURF FOR AUTISM will take place on Saturday July 31st from 3:00-8:00 at the Ocean Mist in Matunuck, RI. the Mist is a great waterfront club / restaurant just off route 1 in south county about 40 minutes from Providence.

Due to personal issues THE AUTISM SURF CLUB blog will be taking a sabbatical. This will be our second to last blog posting for now. We will continue working on the ROCKIN' THE SURF FOR AUTISM fundraiser with the promise of making it one of the biggest and best events of the summer. We hope to return to blogging and organizing autism events in the not too distant future.

The above blog and many of the fund raising events past, present and future are organized by a group of very caring and wonderful women. Please support their projects because they care.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

we're looking for several volunteers for the August 15th fundraiser at the Ocean Mist.
- we need 2 volunteers to sell tickets at the raffle table.
- we need 1 volunteer to collect tickets/money at the door.
- we need at least 4 volunteers to supervise beach activities w/ the kids. (we will rotate the beach volunteers so everyone can enjoy the music inside as well.)
- we need an mc (hostess) to introduce the bands and announce raffle winners.
- and we need a certified lifeguard.

the fundraiser takes place on Saturday August 15th between 3:00-8:00.

it's time, and long overdue, to give another thank you and a great big hug to a deserving person. when we held our first fundraiser, THE ART OF DINING IN THE SPACE AGE back in January of '09 we needed businesses to help w/ donations of either cash, gift cards, or food/drinks. since we were regular customers at TRINITY BREWHOUSE in Providence we decided that would be the best place to start. we presented the owner w/ all the info and had a brief chat w/ him at the bar but the person that prodded, pushed, and supported what we were trying to do was the manager, JEN. she came through w/ everything we needed and wanted, and always did it w/ a smile. with TRINITY BREWHOUSE as our first sponsor we were able to recruit other restaurants and businesses to join this event. JEN played a big part in making our event a success.

this saturday june 6th there will be a yard sale to benefit surfers healing. the sale will be held at 25 killdeer rd. in warwick and is part of the annual governor francis neighborhood yard sale. 100% of the money raised at the killdeer sale will be donated to surfers healing.

finally it's May our favorite month and the beginning of some very special events.

on sunday may 17th from 11:00 - 5:00 there's a raffle and bake sale at the community booth in the warwick mall. the women involved in this project have collected some fantastic gift baskets and yummy treats. ALL the proceeds from the raffle and bake sale will be used to bring SURFERS HEALING to narragansett this summer.

on saturday may 23rd we will hold our largest yard sale ever! the list of items include: vintage glassware and dinnerware, pottery, clothing, books, records, a television, a dvd player, a 1950s child's table, cd rack, and far too much junk to list. a portion of the proceeds from this sale will be donated to SURFERS HEALING.
the sale will run from 9:30 - 4:00 at the corner of ocean ave and broad st in pawtuxet village, cranston.

SURFERS HEALING

the main focus of the AUTISM SURF CLUB this summer is to bring SURFERS HEALING to narragansett in september. SURFERS HEALING is a california based non-profit surfing camp for autistic children.

the camp is FREE for the children and their families but we still need to raise money for travel expenses, hotels, permits and equipment. during the next several months we will attempt to raise money through raffles, bake sales, yard sales, and a family friendly rockabilly & surf fundraiser on the beach in mid-august. all these events will be posted on this blog in the coming weeks.
